Arnold Ventures Uses Salesforce to Fuel Their Grantmaking

Arnold Ventures is a national philanthropic organization that funds evidence-based policy work across criminal justice, education, health care, and public finance, supporting 450+ organizations and nearly 900 projects. As the organization scaled to a staff of 100+ and managed complex, data-driven grant portfolios, it needed a collaborative, customizable technology strategy to centralize data, streamline workflows, and enable remote collaboration.

Using Salesforce (Nonprofit Success Pack and Communities) and a move to Lightning, Arnold Ventures built a custom platform and grantee portal plus dynamic dashboard reporting with real‑time filters. The solution gave staff a single source of truth during COVID-19, revealed that over a quarter of active grants were at higher risk, improved grantee experience and engagement, and enabled new initiatives (like a staff discretionary fund) to be tracked and managed efficiently.
