SCL Health is a $2.8 billion, faith-based nonprofit health network operating eight hospitals and 150+ clinics that was struggling with an aging, homegrown identity system. As the organization grew and regulatory demands increased, the custom tool became costly, hard to maintain (with a single expert dependency), and unable to provision precise access quickly—creating onboarding delays, deprovisioning gaps, and heightened HIPAA/least-privilege risk.
SCL Health chose SailPoint with implementation by S3 Consulting to implement role-based access, automate provisioning/deprovisioning, and integrate identity with Oracle ERP, ServiceNow, SSO/MFA and Epic. The deployment cut help-desk tickets by more than half, strengthened PHI protection and compliance, enabled AI-driven access recommendations, and generated nearly $800,000 in annual savings by eliminating legacy maintenance and repurposing staff.
