Rockwell Automation Achieves Significant Savings With SailPoint IdentityIQ

Rockwell Automation faced a looming identity-management problem: its legacy Sun IDM system was sunsetting and the company wanted to transform IAM from a costly, manual function into a value-generating foundation. With HR-driven onboarding via SAP, at least 25 different processes could trigger access requests across 20 integrated applications — more than 8,000 entitlements and 1,000 roles — and manual offboarding (especially for contractors) created security and compliance risks.

Rockwell implemented SailPoint IdentityIQ to automate provisioning, password synchronization, recertification and deprovisioning. The platform enabled self-service handling of 62,000 requests (from a prior workload of 82,000 requests supported by 23 contractors), helped reduce contractor headcount and reallocate resources, and cut costs by an estimated $1M+ annually. Additional benefits included reduced ticket backlogs, stronger security and compliance, faster onboarding of new apps, and improved user satisfaction.
