A SailPoint Technologies Case Study
Nedbank, one of South Africa’s four largest banking groups with a strong focus on digital security, faced mounting identity-management challenges as legacy and mainframe tools were layered over newer systems. The environment suffered from role proliferation, poor visibility of who had access, cumbersome manual certifications and provisioning, and an unsustainable dependency on a tiny set of IT experts—creating operational inefficiency and increased risk.
Nedbank standardized on SailPoint’s identity governance platform and created a Centre for Access Governance, integrating with HR (SAP) to automate provisioning, deprovisioning and quarterly access certifications. The program delivered faster onboarding (from six weeks to one day), a 92% certification completion rate, ongoing termination automation, improved user experience and tighter data access controls—freeing capacity for other security priorities and enforcing least-privilege access.
