Legal & General, one of the UK’s leading financial services groups, faced major identity and access management challenges as it modernized security and moved applications to the cloud. Its manual joiner-mover-leaver processes were slow and complex, requiring many tickets per new employee, creating access-risk and compliance issues, and delaying staff from starting on day one. The company turned to SailPoint Technologies and its identity security solution to help strengthen access controls and reduce reliance on manual effort.

With SailPoint Technologies, Legal & General phased in certification, auto-provisioning, and deprovisioning across critical applications, then expanded automation across the organization. The results were significant: average provisioning time dropped from five days to minutes, emergency leaver requests fell from around seven hours to almost instant processing, and more than 3,800 joiners, 3,500 leavers, and 14,000 group/folder requests were automated in 12 months. Legal & General also reduced its access team from more than 20 people to 7, and said most SailPoint implementations were cost-neutral or cost-saving.
