ING Direct Australia Effectively Meets Compliance and Security Demands with Governance-Based Identity and Access Management

ING DIRECT Australia, a leading direct bank, needed to strengthen governance, risk and compliance around user access to meet APRA, Basel and SOX requirements. The bank relied on ad hoc group/profile assignments and manual, spreadsheet-based access reviews with inconsistent data, making certification labor-intensive, error-prone and hard to scale.

ING deployed SailPoint IdentityIQ to centralize identity data, automate access requests and user access reviews, and apply preventative and detective controls across 30 critical applications (about 1,200 users). Within 90 days the bank launched automated certification workflows, improved role mapping and SoD remediation, cut certification effort by 98% (from 184 hours and two staff to 4 hours and one), and gained clearer visibility and faster, more consistent compliance processes.
