GE Scales Access to 1.8 MillionUsers with IdentityIQ

GE, a Boston‑headquartered multinational with businesses across aviation, energy, healthcare, transportation and more, needed a more scalable, auditable identity program to meet strict SOX, ISO, Export Control and other regulatory requirements. With its legacy identity tool being sunset and identity teams fragmented across business units, GE sought a single, flexible solution to consolidate governance, standardize processes and prevent unauthorized access to regulated systems.

GE implemented SailPoint IdentityIQ to unify identity governance for over 1,800 applications and 1.8 million users. The consolidation cut program headcount by half, reduced the global access audit team from 25 people to 2, slashed password‑reset tickets from several hundred thousand to about 10,000 annually (saving more than $2M per year), and improved employee Net Promoter Score from negative to over 20.
