The City of Boston, New England’s largest metropolitan area serving over 8.2 million people, was running a heavily customized, partially completed Oracle IDM system that was nearing end-of-life. Upgrades were difficult, outages were frequent, and a shortage of dedicated staff left the city without a secure, stable identity governance platform.
Boston migrated its legacy system to SailPoint’s cloud identity platform, automating user provisioning and deprovisioning and creating a centralized portal for access requests and approvals. The result is a modern, stable identity program with automated access lifecycle management, easier workflows for staff, and elimination of the previous identity system outages.
