ASDA rebuilds UK-wide identity security after Walmart demerger

ASDA, one of the UK’s largest supermarket retailers, needed to rebuild its identity security after separating from Walmart and losing access to its former identity infrastructure. The company had to create new identities for 138,000 employees and manage around 6,000 contractors while improving compliance, user experience, and employee lifecycle management. ASDA chose SailPoint Technologies and SailPoint Identity Security Cloud, along with ServiceNow integration, to support its new cloud-first identity program.

SailPoint Technologies helped ASDA move from manual, on-premises processes to a unified, cloud-based identity security model. The rollout was described as straightforward, and ASDA also adopted SailPoint’s Non-Employee Risk Management tool for contractor access. The result was a more efficient, scalable identity program that better supports rapid onboarding and access governance across the business, with the potential to save time, money, and resources as ASDA continues integrating hundreds of applications.
