Orange County builds a 24x7 SOC in less than five months with SAIC

The County of Orange faced the challenge of modernizing its IT infrastructure to better serve its 3.2 million residents. Its existing systems needed to be more secure, scalable, and cost-effective to support the diverse services provided across 22 county departments. Partnering with vendor SAIC, the county sought to create a unified and modern IT environment.

SAIC implemented a comprehensive IT transformation, which included centralizing operations, building a 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC), and upgrading legacy systems. This solution strengthened cybersecurity, enabled seamless remote work during the pandemic, and improved disaster recovery. The results were significant, including the successful monitoring of over 10 million monthly security events and maintaining internal satisfaction scores above 95%. The modernization effort positioned Orange County for future cloud migration and established its SOC as a model for other governments.
