A SAI360 Case Study

Preview of the Roche Case Study

Effective Corporate Governance at Roche

Roche, a Basel‑based global healthcare leader with 75,000 employees and 190 reporting entities, needed a purpose‑fit Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) approach to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its financial reporting and to comply with Swiss regulation Or728a. The key challenge was designing an ICFR solution with an optimal cost/benefit ratio that supported both global oversight and local adaptation.

Roche selected Nasdaq BWise as the central, top‑down risk‑based repository for documentation, testing and issue management, implementing the platform across 26 countries and making it accessible to roughly 700 users in ~30 countries. The intuitive system was deployed quickly, standardized control documentation while allowing local tailoring, improved risk definition/monitoring/mitigation, and enabled Roche to meet Swiss legal requirements ahead of schedule — delivering measurable governance and compliance value.
