Achieving safety excellence through HSE integration

BIC, the global manufacturer of stationery, lighters and razors with 25 factories and more than 12,700 employees, made workplace health and safety a top strategic priority with a Vision Zero aim of zero accidents by 2025. The company faced significant challenges: cultural and regulatory differences across countries, unequal access to technology, fragmented and manual processes (with HSE teams spending ~20% of their time on administration), and a lack of centralized data and analytics to monitor and prevent incidents.

BIC partnered with SAI360 to deploy a quick-to-implement, multilingual EHS platform that centralized data and linked modules—Audit, Incident Management, Hazard Identification, Risk Register, Covid-19 Case, Action Management and more—alongside the Roam mobile app. The solution enabled global standards and self-assessments, robust root-cause analysis, faster Covid case tracking, streamlined reporting (reducing reliance on spreadsheets and email), and pilots using sensors, biometrics and AR/VR; together these improvements strengthened analytics, compliance and continuous improvement to advance BIC’s Vision Zero objectives.
