A Sage Intacct Case Study
Bloomington and Normal Water Reclamation District (BNWRD) is a lean, 34-person utility in Illinois that serves more than 133,000 residents and manages treatment plants and experimental wetlands. After decades on Sage 100, the district needed a cloud-first solution to enable remote access, improve data security, eliminate paper-based workflows, and automate repetitive tasks.
BNWRD migrated to Sage Intacct with its Sage partner, moving three years of data from seven companies and configuring workflows without custom code. The cloud solution simplified the chart of accounts, integrated payroll and billing imports to remove manual journal entries, and automated reporting. Results include tens of thousands of dollars saved annually, a 75% reduction in monthly financial reporting time, bank reconciliation cut from five hours to under two, elimination of 14 filing cabinets, and freed staff time used for higher‑value work that improves retention and recruiting.
