A Sage Intacct Case Study
The UAB Educational Foundation, a small nonprofit that manages about 50 discretionary funds supporting the University of Alabama at Birmingham, faced growing complexity and an overburdened staff due to paper-based expense and bill-payment processes and heavy manual data entry. To streamline operations and avoid traditional software installation issues, the Foundation moved to a cloud-based accounting system, selecting Sage Intacct for its flexibility and multi-dimensional reporting.
Using Sage Intacct’s integrated purchasing and general ledger, the Foundation automated approval workflows, eliminated separate check-printing software, and cut invoice-to-payment time roughly in half (from about 21 days to 10), saving six AP days per month. The switch also automated complex reporting across all 50 funds, delivered real-time financial visibility and budget tracking, improved vendor relationships, and enabled the organization to scale without adding staff.
