Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland conquers complexity with Sage Intacct

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, which serves 279,159 Catholics across Maine through more than 100 entities (58 parishes, schools, cemeteries, housing projects and a foundation), faced fragmented accounting systems and extremely time-consuming manual consolidations. A central chancery used one system while parishes used another, forcing staff to log in and out of multiple databases, export data, and rely on Excel for reporting.

Working with CliftonLarsonAllen to implement Sage Intacct cloud ERP, the diocese gained real‑time consolidations, a flexible general ledger with dimensions, automated reporting and stronger controls. The change freed about 10% of finance team time, avoided roughly 60 hours annually on consolidations and reporting, saved the controller at least four hours per month (and a full day per week on expenses via ExpensePath), and the software paid for itself in the first year while delivering far better operational visibility.
