Montana Hospital Association gains peace of mind through transparency

Montana Hospital Association (MHA) is an association of Montana health care providers operating three entities—a membership association, a nonprofit foundation, and a for-profit services arm. As the foundation grew from one to twenty grants, MHA’s legacy on‑premises system (Microsoft Dynamics SL) became slow, manual, and costly, forcing the finance team to spend a week each month on inter‑company transactions and struggling to get timely, multi‑entity reporting.

MHA implemented Sage Intacct to automate consolidations, share vendor/customer lists, and integrate budgeting, payroll, fixed assets, and allocation apps. The move delivered grant‑level reporting and personalized dashboards, eliminated manual intercompany entries, shortened month‑end close, increased visibility into spending, and saved about $100,000 annually in headcount—freeing finance to be proactive and giving leadership real‑time financial transparency.
