A Sage Intacct Case Study
IslandWood is a 255-acre outdoor environmental learning center on Bainbridge Island that serves over 12,000 schoolchildren annually. As the organization grew, its finance team struggled with a patchwork of QuickBooks and Blackbaud Financial Edge plus heavy Excel use, requiring monthly manual consolidation and preventing real-time visibility into income streams, grants, donors, and programs. IslandWood needed a cloud-based financial system that would integrate with Salesforce and handle increasing complexity without adding headcount.
By switching to Sage Intacct and integrating it with Salesforce, IslandWood automated invoicing, AR/AP, credit card reconciliation, and reporting, eliminating duplicate data entry and enabling daily processing of expenses. The change saved roughly 30 hours per month (over 360 hours annually), shortened the monthly close by two days, and delivered real-time, multi-dimensional reporting on funds, grants, and programs—avoiding the need for at least a half-time finance hire.
