JAARS is a nonprofit that provides practical aviation, transportation, IT and media support to partner organizations facilitating Bible translation in remote areas. Relying on hundreds of largely unpaid volunteers (about 90% of its workforce) and a lean HR team, JAARS struggled with a homegrown HR database, paper-based processes, poor reporting and no consistent way to track donated labor time for tax reporting or gain workforce visibility.

JAARS implemented Sage People (built on Salesforce) with integrations to DocuSign and G Suite, adding talent acquisition, performance management and self-service features. The solution eliminated paper workflows, improved data accuracy, enabled real-time reporting of FTEs and volunteer activity, supported remote work, and gave HR the insights needed to identify inactive volunteers and plan targeted recruiting and retention efforts.
