A Sage ERP Case Study
Trican Well Service Ltd., a Calgary‑based oilfield services company, experienced explosive growth—revenues rose from about $28 million to over $182 million in four years and the company invested more than $143 million in equipment and facilities. Facing the need for a robust Windows NT environment, a powerful relational database and strong fixed‑assets, project accounting and multicurrency capabilities, Trican selected Sage and implemented Sage 500 ERP to support its expanding finance and reporting needs.
Sage deployed Sage 500 ERP with Project Accounting, Sage Fixed Assets and Multicurrency modules to provide unit‑level depreciation subledgers, project‑by‑unit cost tracking and integrated AR/AP processing. The solution streamlined data access and reporting, produced more timely and reliable financial and asset records, and enabled Trican’s finance team to manage rapid growth and major capital projects without adding staff—supporting oversight of $143M in investments and multi‑location operations while improving budgeting, cost control and managerial reporting.
