A Sage ERP Case Study
Power Curbers, Inc., a Salisbury, North Carolina manufacturer of slip-form pavers with 100+ employees, faced an inflexible, hard-to-learn and costly Baan ERP that created lengthy month-end closes and excessive administrative work. To streamline manufacturing, distribution, and financials they implemented Sage 500 ERP (with support from a Sage business partner) to replace the legacy system and support lean production practices.
Sage deployed the Sage 500 ERP manufacturing suite and Project Accounting to enable direct-expense flows, live scheduling, and P&L by machine, cutting month-end close from ~20 business days to about 1.5 days. The Sage 500 ERP implementation delivered measurable impacts: sales grew ~30% annually, profitability rose ~50% annually, inventory turns increased from ~3 to 12, three administrative positions were reassigned, new machines are produced ~25% faster, warranty costs fell by two-thirds, and the company eliminated all short-term debt.
