A Sage ERP Case Study
Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D), a nonprofit that produces accessible audiobooks with 6,000 volunteers across 29 studios, struggled with outdated Blackbaud and RaisersEdge systems that could not support its manufacturing-like workflows, multi-location scheduling, or integrated financials. To modernize operations, RFB&D selected Sage 500 ERP from Sage—deploying financial, Advanced Planning and Scheduling, Advanced Manufacturing and Sage HRMS modules—to replace legacy systems and unify scheduling, inventory and back-office processes.
Sage 500 ERP centralized chapter-level work orders, routing slips and a Schedule Board, enabling just-in-time manufacturing and more efficient use of studio time and volunteers. As a result of Sage’s solution, RFB&D recorded 5,000 books in a year (a double‑digit increase in production), gained seamless financial reporting and accountability, reduced time on financial management, and expanded member access to more titles.
