Major Nonprofit Improves Accountability and Control With Sage

Christian Broadcasting Network, Inc. (CBN), a large nonprofit television ministry in Virginia Beach, faced fragmented financial and planning systems—purchasing, cost accounting, inventory, and budgeting were from different vendors or home‑grown—creating redundancies, inefficiencies, and limited visibility into how donor dollars were spent. To address this, CBN selected Sage and its Sage Budgeting and Planning product for its flexibility, ease of use, and support for project‑based budgeting.

Sage implemented Sage Budgeting and Planning with linked departmental Plan Sheets, general ledger and payroll integration, and built‑in security, removing IT from routine budgeting tasks and enabling managers to enter and consolidate project budgets directly. The result: CBN reduced its annual budgeting cycle by about one month, improved budget accuracy and interdepartmental visibility, and strengthened accountability over donor funds so ineffective programs could be identified and curtailed more quickly.
