A Sage ERP Case Study
Luzenac America, Inc., a leading talc producer with operations across North America, was burdened by a heavily customized JD Edwards system on an IBM AS/400 that was costly to upgrade, hard to extract usable data from, and did not integrate well with its inventory processes. To solve this, Luzenac selected Sage 500 ERP from Sage as a midmarket replacement for stronger out‑of‑the‑box functionality and superior warehouse and inventory management.
Sage deployed Sage 500 ERP for core financials and inventory, integrating production data from Ironware Technologies’ PIMS and adding multicurrency and fixed‑assets capabilities. The implementation delivered real‑time inventory visibility, enabled better strategic decisions, shortened month‑end close by two days, and provided equivalent tier‑one functionality at about 75% of the cost, with upgrades completed on time and within budget.
