A Sage ERP Case Study
Grant Thornton LLP, the Canadian member of Grant Thornton International with more than 4,000 professionals, needed to standardize and centralize its accounting operations across multiple business units, tighten security and control, simplify HST reporting, and streamline complex intercompany allocations. The firm selected Sage 300 (Sage) as its core accounting system to address these challenges.
Grant Thornton consolidated to a single instance of Sage 300 hosted on Toronto servers and accessed via Citrix, added the Intercompany Transactions module and SQL‑based reporting with database triggers for alerts. The Sage 300 implementation delivered greater consistency, security, and backup control, simplified HST administration, enabled single-step allocation of transactions, and sped reporting dramatically (an 80‑sheet report that once took hours now updates in three minutes). Grant Thornton LLP now recommends and implements Sage 300 for clients.
