Horry County Schools - Customer Case Study

Horry County Schools, the third largest district in South Carolina, needed a better way to reduce work-related injuries and workers’ compensation claims. With more than 38,000 students, 5,866 employees, and a tight fiscal budget, the district faced high injury rates, repeated injury types, serious injuries, and rising Mod Rate and WC premiums. It turned to SafeSchools and its Online Staff Training System to address the challenge.

SafeSchools implemented a school-focused online training and compliance management system that allowed Horry County Schools to assign courses, automate notifications, and track completions across multiple locations. The district was able to train staff more efficiently and flexibly, with over 55,000 course completions in under 90 days, and reported fewer serious injuries and $787,000 saved in workers’ compensation claims in one year.
