A Safecall Case Study
SSE, the UK and Ireland energy company, needed to turn a basic whistleblowing policy into a trusted speak-up process because staff were not reporting concerns in meaningful volume. SSE appointed Safecall to provide a speak-up service, and used it alongside a review of its internal processes and communications.
Safecall helped SSE implement a secure external reporting channel, improve internal triage and investigation processes, and launch a stronger awareness campaign using Safecall-branded posters and simpler policy materials. The result was a steady increase in reports, better employee and board confidence, and evidence that the programme was helping SSE stop wrongdoing; SSE also said that around 75% of calls involved someone other than the caller already knowing about the concern.
