WSP, a top-10 global professional services firm, faced complex production and workflow challenges that standard CAD and GIS tools couldn’t solve. Their projects involved diverse data types—LiDAR, CAD, GPS, georeferenced photos and field logs—that needed reprojection, quality control, integration and visualization across teams and systems.

Using FME Desktop to build workflows and FME Server to automate and share them, WSP generates 3D site plans, reprojects LiDAR, moves and QC’s data between CAD and GIS, and consolidates archival project data into a single KML that links Trimble Job Book entries, georeferenced images and Garmin GPX tracks for Google Earth and Excel-based navigation. The automated workflows made these tasks possible, faster and repeatable across projects.
