Vancouver International Airport - Customer Case Study

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) wanted to improve the passenger experience by making it easier to navigate its indoor spaces and by creating a more reliable view of floor plans, assets, and infrastructure. Using Safe Software’s FME platform, YVR needed to bring together data from multiple systems, including CAD files, Maximo, Propworks, and SiteCore CMS, into a single GIS-based workflow.

Safe Software implemented FME and FME Flow to automate data integration, QA/QC, and nightly updates for indoor mapping datasets. The solution supports YVR’s website, digital twin app, and map platforms, and helps create a “single source of truth” for airport spaces. The result is a constantly updated mapping system that improves wayfinding for passengers, supports better asset management, and helped make YVR one of the first airports to provide indoor mapping data to Apple Maps.
