University of Oxford - Customer Case Study

The University of Oxford, working with Safe Software’s FME, faced the challenge of analyzing complex ophthalmic imaging data to track the progression of genetic eye diseases and evaluate experimental treatments. Their research on conditions such as choroideremia and retinitis pigmentosa required a better way to map and quantify changes in the human eye over time.

Safe Software’s FME was used to automate georeferencing of eye scans, extract and overlap disease regions, and support repeatable image-analysis workflows for clinical trials. The solution improved efficiency by reducing labor-intensive manual work, enabled clearer visualization for researchers and patients, and helped the University of Oxford measure disease progression and treatment effects more consistently across studies.
