The Regional Municipality of York - Customer Case Study

The Regional Municipality of York, home to over 1 million residents in the Greater Toronto Area, needed a way for nine constituent municipalities to submit their own water and wastewater data into the region’s All Pipes program while automating quality control and converting varied datasets into a common schema.

Working with Spatial DNA, York Region implemented tailored FME workspaces and FME Server integrations triggered from their Geocortex web GIS; each submission is validated, transformed to the common schema, and loaded into the Esri SDE database. The result is automated, easier-to-maintain data ingestion with visually editable workflows, and the region is now planning to extend the approach to storm water, parks, sidewalks, and street lights.
