A Safe Software Case Study
Swisstopo, Switzerland’s Federal Office of Topography, produces the country’s high-quality national maps but was hampered by a legacy CAD-based production system and fragmented data management that forced staff to use multiple interfaces and perform time-consuming manual data conversions. This inflexibility slowed workflows and made integrating diverse regional and international datasets difficult.
Swisstopo implemented a centralized “dataHub” powered by FME Server integrated with ArcGIS Server to automate spatial ETL tasks (coordinate, format and model conversions and mapping rules). The solution delivers datasets in the formats users need in seconds, removes manual conversion work, speeds map production, and lets topographers focus on data capture and new products.
