Surrey Heath Borough Council - Customer Case Study

Surrey Heath Borough Council, the local authority for Camberley in Southeast England, faced the challenge of adopting cloud services (Salesforce, AWS, CARTO) without isolating years of legacy on‑premises data in Oracle and MS SQL Server. Different formats and APIs—CSV/KML/Excel versus JSON/GeoJSON—meant data silos threatened productivity and they needed reliable, automated synchronization across systems and departments.

Working with Sterling Geo, Surrey Heath implemented FME Desktop and FME Cloud as an enterprise integration layer to extract, transform and deliver data between on‑premises databases and cloud services. Workflows were built for legacy DB exports, near‑real‑time sync between Fulcrum and Salesforce, streaming RSS to CARTO and AWS RDS, and scheduled validation with S3 reporting. The result is automated, enterprise‑wide data integration that keeps information up to date and accessible, breaks down silos, and frees staff to focus on analysis and service delivery.
