Sterling Geo - Customer Case Study

Sterling Geo needed a fast, low-cost way to prototype and deliver 1 to 100 earth observation applications in a year for public sector and government customers, but it had tight deadlines, limited budgets, and no developers. To support the UK Space Agency-funded 100:1 project, Sterling Geo used FME by Safe Software to demonstrate how satellite data from sources like Landsat and Sentinel could be turned into practical services without major IT changes.

Safe Software’s FME was deployed in the cloud to process satellite data, generate web apps, send email and Slack alerts, and publish results for dashboards. The approach helped Sterling Geo work with more than 150 government agencies and build about 20 applications so far, with prototyping done quickly and inexpensively and cloud servers only paid for during demonstrations. Many of the apps are now in production.
