Smartphone Free Schools Rating Initiative scales smartphone-free school policies by 2030 with Safe Software

The Smartphone Free Schools Rating Initiative, a UK non-profit, faced the challenge of manually managing data from schools self-registering their smartphone policies. This inefficient, volunteer-reliant process was not scalable for their goal of creating smartphone-free environments in every school across England and Wales by 2030. They collaborated with vendor Safe Software and its partner to leverage FME Flow Hosted for an automated, cloud-based solution.

Safe Software implemented a solution using FME Flow Hosted to automate the validation, transformation, and publishing of school registration data to a public map. This eliminated manual processing and local infrastructure costs, allowing the initiative to scale effortlessly. The results included a more resilient system and the ability for volunteers to reallocate their time from data management to outreach and advocacy, directly supporting their mission to improve student learning outcomes.
