PNM, the largest electricity provider in New Mexico, needed to automate and maintain accurate geospatial and outage data across many systems. Since 2002 its GIS department has relied on FME to handle diverse, time-sensitive workflows—from near‑real‑time outage feeds to routine data quality checks and reporting—to manage assets, compliance, and operational visibility.
PNM runs at least 25 scheduled FME workflows that deliver tasks such as 10‑minute outage updates, daily bird‑related outage detection, deleted‑pole checks, NM One Call processing, ArcGIS Online light‑data backups, and franchise fee reports. This automation has produced more accurate, actionable data, faster decision-making, reduced staff time and costs, and established FME as the department’s go‑to tool for reliable, high‑performance GIS automation.
