Natural Resources Canada - Customer Case Study

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is the federal agency responsible for Canada's natural resources and their competitive use. Faced with the need to validate, integrate and disseminate large volumes of spatial data across departments—and to simplify custom-coded batch processes—NRCan required a solution that would support cartographic production, federal compliance, and high public demand (its GeoBase/Geogratis and WMS services supported 8.5 million downloads last year).

NRCan has used FME since 1998 and today relies on FME Desktop to run over 700 data-transformation workflows and on Custom Transformers to create reusable processes. By implementing FME Server to replace bespoke batch jobs, FME now acts as the centerpiece for validation, integration and dissemination, enabling multi-department data sharing, streamlining operations and reducing costs.
