Global Information Systems - Customer Case Study

Global Information Systems, a provider of pipeline asset-data and workflow solutions since 2006, faced a time-consuming, manual quality-control bottleneck when importing client GIS drawings — notably for a pipeline operator that moves 100 million gallons of petroleum products daily. The challenge was to quickly and reliably audit incoming spatial data against established standards before it entered the client’s GIS.

Using FME’s out-of-the-box tools, GIS created automated, scalable workflows that validate and audit drawings against standards on desktop or server environments. This replaced costly manual checks, drastically reduced QC time, and sped data correction through customizable checks, notifications, and detailed error reports while remaining flexible to changing business processes.
