Global Information Systems - Customer Case Study

Global Information Systems, a provider of pipeline-industry solutions for asset data, business workflows, and regulatory compliance, faced the challenge of merging CAD and GIS data to produce purpose-built alignment sheets for clients. They needed to replace time-consuming manual CAD drafting and avoid expensive or complex proprietary GIS tools.

Using FME Desktop’s pre-built tools and graphical interface, the team created a workflow that reads from a Geodatabase, performs required manipulation and formatting, and pushes results to AutoCAD Map for any final touch-ups. The automated solution delivered highly accurate, maintainable, and reproducible alignment sheets, letting the company leverage best-of-breed CAD and GIS technologies while cutting drafting time and eliminating costly alternatives.
