GeoLOGIC - Customer Case Study

Calgary-based GeoLOGIC, a recognized developer of oil & gas databases and software, faced the task of removing road allowance gaps from the Western Canada Dominion Land Survey (DLS) grid covering 1.5 million km² — a dataset of almost 10 million polygons that contained gaps and nonconforming section sizes.

Using FME Desktop they automated the gap-closing process, built workflow components to correct nonstandard DLS polygons, and rigorously tested the final road-free grid to eliminate slivers. The result is a reusable, highly accurate DLS grid (approaching 100% accuracy) that supports further geostatistical analysis and production-allocation workflows for horizontal wells.
