A Safe Software Case Study
Consortech, a 25‑year provider of data management and design services, needed to consolidate client data from multiple source systems into their AutoCAD Map 3D template for Quebec, called SOLO Network. The migration covered sewer and water lines, road centerlines and surfaces, and required complex transformations — moving geometry and attributes into different tables, converting English to French, turning character domain values into numeric codes, shifting from a simpler to a more complex schema, and validating data integrity.
Using FME for ETL, Consortech automated the extract, transform and load processes to migrate and reformat geometry, attributes, domain values and dates into the new schema while separating geometry from attribute data. The outcome was clean, schema-compliant datasets with domain and date values standardized; validation workflows produce detailed reports highlighting discrepancies for manual review, improving overall data quality for the SOLO Network system.
