A Safe Software Case Study
The City of San Jose, the 10th largest U.S. city located in Silicon Valley, needed to break down departmental data silos and publish integrated interactive maps. When Google Maps Engine (GME) was deprecated, they also faced the challenge of migrating without disrupting access for staff and citizens.
Using FME’s visual, pre-built tools they automated workflows to standardize and integrate disparate datasets and perform incremental nightly updates. When GME was retired they simply tweaked the existing workflows to target CartoDB, delivering a lightweight, mobile-friendly self-service map gallery and a seamless migration that went unnoticed by end users.
