The City of Oak Ridge in Tennessee needed to migrate Electric Department mapping from AutoCAD into their GIS as the department phased out CAD. First-time FME user Kenric McCay researched webinars and forum resources to design a workflow that would preserve critical anchor points during the import.

Using FME he built an automated workspace to convert CAD to shapefiles, eliminating repetitive manual steps while ensuring the integrity of the original dataset. The reusable solution saved significant time, streamlined imports, and enabled the team to apply FME to additional tasks.
