City of Edmonton - Customer Case Study

The City of Edmonton’s Sustainable Development department used FME to assign redevelopment-potential factors to parcels in the 104 Avenue Corridor as part of its Area Redevelopment Plan. As the capital of Alberta and Canada’s sixth-largest city, Edmonton needed a scalable, data-driven way to evaluate where redevelopment would be most appropriate.

A staff member new to FME used pre-built tools to build repeatable workflows that collected and analyzed parcel-level data — land use, zoning, building age, residential tenure, dwelling counts and density, assessed values, and commercial square footage — and produced numeric development-potential scores. The process generated maps for each analysis factor and a redevelopment-potential factor for every parcel, informing decision-making and preparing the city to use FME in the next phase of creating and testing zoning scenarios.
