Auckland Council - Customer Case Study

Auckland Council, a local government authority, needed a better way to extract council property IDs from Survey123 data, where inconsistent property addresses and GPS information made accurate matching difficult. Working with Safe Software’s FME, the council’s Geospatial team tackled the challenge of improving property record accuracy for planning, infrastructure, environmental management, and public services.

Safe Software’s FME was used to build a multi-step data transformation and address resolution process, including data cleansing, exact and partial address matching, geocoding checks, and feature merging. The result was an 80% improvement in property record accuracy, plus a comprehensive list of affected properties with confidence ratings, unresolved match identification, and a new method for renaming survey PDFs using confirmed property IDs.
