St. Mary’s Medical Center, a 2,400-employee regional healthcare leader in Huntington, WV, needed to modernize HR to meet strategic goals. Its paper-based appraisal and pay-for-performance processes created heavy administrative burdens—tracking, entering and calculating thousands of reviews and compensation adjustments—which distracted HR from strategic work and limited insight into employee satisfaction and performance.
St. Mary’s implemented Halogen TalentSpace, a hosted, flexible performance-management system that automated appraisals and linked them directly to compensation. The new solution reduced paperwork and admin time, enabled managers to complete reviews remotely, and provided real-time reporting to surface trends and employee concerns. As a result, HR regained capacity to support strategic objectives, strengthened pay-for-performance, improved manager and employee satisfaction, and enhanced the organization’s employer brand.
