A Saba Case Study
The School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) delivers K–12 learning across Western Australia’s vast, sparsely populated 2.6 million km² region. Faced with the challenge of empowering teachers to provide engaging, interactive lessons to students scattered by distance, travel, or circumstance, SIDE needed a reliable platform that could replicate a live classroom experience anywhere.
SIDE adopted Saba Classroom (part of Saba Meeting) as its core e‑learning platform, combining high-quality audio/video, whiteboards, breakout rooms, recordings and targeted teacher training supported by a satellite network to handle low‑bandwidth locations. The result: SIDE became Western Australia’s leading distance‑education provider—over 150 teachers delivering 100+ lessons a day to 3,000+ students—boosting engagement and outcomes (20% of school dux studied via SIDE), supporting international exams, and earning global recognition as a Computerworld Honors Laureate.
