Oaklawn Hospital, a 94‑bed community health center in Marshall, Michigan with about 1,000 employees, faced widespread frustration with a disjointed performance management process: employees reported unclear expectations, infrequent feedback, and poor manager–staff communication despite the hospital’s strong clinical results and high patient satisfaction. HR set out to replace annual, inconsistent reviews with a system that would standardize evaluations and support ongoing development.
Oaklawn implemented Halogen TalentSpace and Halogen Performance to centralize HR data, customize evaluation workflows, and embed continuous coaching and feedback into day‑to‑day management. The new system improved review efficiency, helped managers proactively track performance and development, increased employee engagement and clarity about how individual work supports hospital goals, and produced overwhelmingly positive feedback from both staff and leaders.
