A Saba Case Study
Liebherr, a global manufacturer of mining machinery and other industrial equipment with about 38,000 employees across more than 130 independently operating companies, struggled to deliver consistent technical training and manage certifications for a geographically dispersed, culturally diverse workforce. Limited instructor availability, high turnover among operators and technicians, reliance on spreadsheets for certification tracking, and strict regulatory requirements made it difficult and costly to keep staff compliant and trained across remote sites worldwide.
Liebherr implemented Saba’s cloud-based learning management solution with a blended approach—moving prerequisite and high-level courses online while retaining hands-on classroom instruction for deeper systems training. The rollout delivered multilingual e-learning to remote kiosks, centralized certification tracking, reduced travel and instructor costs, accelerated onboarding, and enabled Liebherr to scale training across countries (with plans to reach the full 38,000 workforce) and even monetize training for customers.
