A Saba Case Study
Gorham Savings Bank, a community bank founded in 1868 with 10 branches in Southern Maine, was growing but hampered by paper‑based, manual HR and performance processes that made it difficult to link performance to pay, manage goals across branches, and scale recruiting and retention. HR leaders sought a user‑friendly, ADP‑compatible solution that could centralize employee data, replicate existing forms, and reduce turnover and administrative burden.
In 2008 the bank implemented Halogen Performance and Halogen Compensation, moving appraisals, goals, development plans, and pay rules online. The new system increased manager accountability, streamlined goal management and pay‑for‑performance, improved coaching and recruitment, and refocused staff on customer service—cutting turnover roughly in half (from about 20–25% to 12–15%) and delivering clearer alignment between employee performance and business objectives.
