Banamex Chooses Sistemas CBT and Saba to Create a Virtual University to Educate and Help Retain Executives

Grupo Financiero Banamex, one of Mexico’s largest banks with 1,700+ branches and 21 million customers, needed to reduce executive turnover, build loyalty, and expand access to higher education for employees outside Mexico City while cutting training costs and travel. Traditional university sponsorships had left trained staff vulnerable to recruitment by competitors, and more than half of its 43,000 employees lacked access to on-site programs.

Banamex partnered with Sistemas CBT and Saba to create Banamex University, a synchronous virtual university offering 30+ diploma and degree programs using real-time audio, interactive whiteboards, chat, and collaboration tools. The program serves 3,000+ employees annually (750 enrolled in virtual classes), delivers nearly 30,000 student-hours per year, improved academic outcomes, extended degree access nationwide, reduced training and travel costs (saving over $2M and cutting training costs by more than 10%), and drove virtually zero attrition among students and graduates.
